Biography

Sharon Judge currently serves as Institutional Biosafety Committee (IBC) Chair at WCG IBC Services, working with research sites and IBC Committee members to ensure that human gene transfer trials are conducted safely and within the requirements of the NIH Guidelines for Research Involving Recombinant or Synthetic Nucleic Acid Molecules.

Sharon received her BA in Biology from Wheaton College (Norton, MA) in 1995 and her PhD in Exercise Physiology from the University of Florida (Gainesville, FL) in 2004. After completing postdoctoral training at the Whitaker Cardiovascular Institute at Boston University (Boston, MA), Sharon returned to the University of Florida (UF) where she worked as a Senior Biological Scientist for a few years before making the leap into the world of biosafety. Sharon spent 14 years in the Biosafety Office at UF, taking on the role of Biosafety Officer in 2015 in addition to serving as the Select Agent Responsible Official starting in 2018.
