Michael John Pratts, MD
Biography
Appointed by current New York Governor Kathy Hochul, Dr. Michael John Pratts serves as the forensic psychiatrist for the New York State Commission of Correction’s Medical Review Board. He also holds a faculty position as assistant professor of psychiatry at the State University of New York (SUNY) Downstate, where he teaches residents and fellows. Dr. Pratts is deeply committed to providing direct patient care to some of New York's most vulnerable children through The League School in Brooklyn, New York.
Previously, Dr. Pratts held leadership roles as the medical director of both the Cayuga County Community Mental Health Center and the Comprehensive Psychiatric Emergency Program (CPEP) in Syracuse, New York. His research has been published in prestigious journals such as The New England Journal of Medicine. As a founding member of Global Health Psychiatry, Dr. Pratts is recognized for his contributions to advancing mental health care on a global scale.
