James Murrough, M.D.
Biography
Dr. James Murrough is a professor of psychiatry and neuroscience at the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai in New York. He earned his B.S. in Neuroscience and Behavioral Biology at Emory University in Atlanta and his M.D. at Tufts University School of Medicine in Boston.
He completed his residency in psychiatry and a fellowship in clinical neuroscience and experimental therapeutics at Mount Sinai. Dr. Murrough leads a program of research aimed at understanding the biological basis of mood and anxiety disorders to point the way toward new, more effective treatments for patients. He has made major contributions to the field of biological psychiatry and is an active member of the scientific community. He also maintains an active clinical practice focused on treatment-resistant depression and related conditions.
